Painting Party!

So this year, for Ryley's party with her friends, we decided to try to find a different activity.  Lately, it seems we're at a bounce house party about once a month, so I was committed to finding something else to do.

Over the Christmas holiday, we went to a place called Sunshine Glaze to make a Cookies for Santa plate.  Sunshine Glaze is a little pottery shop where you paint your piece and then they fire and glaze it for you - so much fun!  After our experience at the holidays, we decideed it would be a perfect spot to celebrate Ryley's 5th birthday.

We also decided to do something a little different this year regarding gifts.  We discussed it with Ryley and all decided that it would be a great idea to ask her guests to bring something to donate to the Ronald McDonald house instead of bringing a gift for her.

This past Sunday was the big party and it was a blast!
Here's Ryley carefully choosing the colors she and her guests will use with the help of our awesome party hostess, Abby.
Ryley's getting really excited as her guests start to arrive.

The gang's all here, so let's paint!

And here are the moms getting in on the action...

Kayley and Garrett have chosen their pieces and get to work...

Kate takes her painting very seriously!

And Lainee is in deep concentration, too.

Paige works on the details first...

While Tucker puts a base coat on his turtle.

Dylan and Tori get creative with their painting...

And Taryn and Jordyn concentrate on their masterpieces.

After all the pieces are painted, all the guests put a fingerprint on Ryley's souvenir plate and Ryley completes it with her own handprint.  Can't wait to see all these creations when they're finished!

Once all the painting was done, it was time for the most important part of the party - cake!

Ryley chose Tangled as her cake theme - pretty appropriate since Rapunzel paints on her birthday in the movie!  (Of course, we only figured out that tie-in when someone at the party mentioned it...)

Ryley watches as Ryan lights her candles.

"Happy Birthday dear Ryley....Happy Birthday to you!"

 Make a wish...

 It's sure to come true!

And there you have it - Ryley's fifth birthday is in the history books!
